Integrating SideRack MIDI Plugin with Your DAW

SideRack as a MIDI Plug-in doesn’t generate any sound but only generates MIDI data. It's important to set up SideRack correctly to ensure that DAWs do not mistakenly identify it as an AU/VST instrument. Failing to do so could prevent it from being linked with other instruments in the same MIDI track in your DAW.

Ableton Live

1. Create a MIDI Track and drag and drop SideRack in it.
2. Create a second MIDI track and load your preferred soft-synth into it.
3. In the Soft-Synth channel, open the MIDI Input drop down menu below and select MIDI from "SideRack”.
4. In the subsequent menu, choose "SideRack" again instead of "Post FX".
5. Adjust the MIDI Input Monitoring to "IN".
6. Add some AUv3 effects to the corresponding rack in Duo.

Bitwig

1. Create an Instrument track and insert SideRack before your Soft-Synth target.
2. Add some AUv3 effects to the corresponding rack in Duo.

Cubase

1. Go to "Devices" and choose "VST Instruments” from the drop down menu.
2. Choose SideRack and then choose the synth that you want to manage in the subsequent step.
3. As MIDI input, choose SideRack in the MIDI track for your Soft-Synth.
4. Add some AUv3 effects to the corresponding rack in Duo.

FL Studio

1. Add SideRack and the Soft-Synth you chose to your Channel Rack.
2. Set SideRack MIDI output to the same MIDI input channel of your Soft-Synth.
3. Add some AUv3 effects to the corresponding rack in Duo.

Logic

1. Create an Instrument Channel Strip.
2. Choose SideRack in the MIDI FX slot and choose your Soft-Synth in the INPUT slot.
3. Add some AUv3 effects to the corresponding rack in Duo.

Reaper

1. Start by creating an Instrument track and insert SideRack.
2. Follow this by inserting your Soft-Synth on the same track.
3. Add some AUv3 effects to the corresponding rack in Duo.

Studio One

1. Create an Instrument track and load SideRack as an insert.
2. Establish another track for your Soft-Synth, set the MIDI input to SideRack, and activate record on the same track to receive the MIDI signal.
3. Add some AUv3 effects to the corresponding rack in Duo.

Sonar

1. Insert SideRack as a Soft-Synth on a channel.
2. Activate the MIDI output option in the Insert Soft-Synth Options Box.
3. Route the MIDI output from SideRack to the Soft-Synth you chose.
4. Add some AUv3 effects to the corresponding rack in Duo.
